Wet Wool Felting

At an fund-raiser we attended, I won the bid on a wet wool felting workshop. Since I embellish with wool, I was really excited about learning a new way of working with fabric and wool.

All day we worked on these scarves. Designing, placing the roving and yarns, then the felting process - almost like kneading bread.

The results are breathtaking. Very beautiful scarves. While machine felting creates beautiful designs, they tend to be more flat. This method allows the wool yarn to remain upraised and rounded, which gives dimension to the scarf. Just beautiful.

Close-ups of my scarf. I love it!
